Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of December 14th:

The next Shadow Ridge Community Night is Tuesday, December 15th, from5:30 - 6:30 pm, in the library. Our Science and Math departments will be presenting. The top 30 students overall, as scored by our community judges should plan to attend to showcase their work. Babysitting will be available.

Eight grade Parents – The eighth grade will be participating in a personal financial literacy field trip on Monday, December 14th and Thursday December 17th. We are in need of lots of parent volunteers for these days. Volunteers will be needed from 8:00-1:30 on either day. Cell Phone Battery Overheating

Parents and Guardians of SR,

I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occured late this morning. A student's cell phone malfunctioned in class. The cell phone battery overheated and began smoking. However, no flames were present.

The class was evacuated and the Fire Department was called. The Fire Department determined no one was in danger, and they assisted the staff in ventilating the area. Parents of the students in the class were called. No injuries occurred.

Quería hacerle consciente de una situación que sucedido esta mañana. Un teléfono celular de un estudiante funcionó mal en clase. La batería del teléfono celular sobrecalento y comenzó a fumar. Sin embargo, no se presento llamas.

La clase fue evacuado y el Departamento de Bomberos fue llamado. El Departamento de Bomberos determinó que no había nada de peligro, y ayudaron al personal de ventilar la zona. Los padres de los estudiantes de la clase fueron llamados. Nadie resultó herido.

Week of Nov 23rd

Attention Parents and Guardians of SR:

All Science Fair Projects that includes displays and written reports are due on Friday December 4th. The top 40 students in each grade level will attend the school wide science fair on Friday December 11th. The top 30 students overall, as scored by our community judges should plan to attend the Math/Science community night on Tuesday, December 15th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm to showcase their work.

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of November 16th :

National Junior Honor Society is collecting canned goods to donate to a local food bank. The goal is 5,000 items. Please donate. We are far from our goal. Thank you!

Community Night is Tuesday, November 17 from 5:30-6:30. Please join us to learn more about Social Studies, Special Education, and Counseling. The Special Education Department will be providing information about co-teaching, Number Worlds, and Leveled Literacy Intervention.

Shadow Ridge is having a book fair at Barnes & Noble on Monday, November 30th. If you are shopping at Barnes & Noble on that day, please mention Shadow Ridge at the register and you will help our library get more books for our students. If you need more information, please contact Susan Smith, Shadow Ridge Teacher Librarian, at 720-972-5073.

Just a friendly reminder all Science Fair Projects are due on Friday, December 4th.

COME SEE THE FALL PLAY: Scheme of the Driftless Shifter by Carolyn Lane, a comedy.
November 12th – November 14th, at 7:00 p.m. in the cafetorium. Students can purchase the tickets before the show for $3 with ID, or $4 at the door and $5 for adults.

RAM Time offers students a quiet place to work on homework as well as have access to computers to complete assignments. It is located in the library on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays before school 7:30-8:15 and after school 3:35-4:45. No RAM Time on Wednesdays.

This year, Shadow Ridge will be forming a school wellness team comprised of representatives from the whole school community whose goal will be to address Shadow Ridge's specific needs in relation to our school's health.

RAMS RECOVERY TIME – Help us help your child and improve his/her academic achievement. Teachers will be available the first and third Wednesday of every month from 2:20-3:00 p.m. in individual classrooms for assessment make-ups and help. Transportation will not be provided. Students will need to make transportation arrangements with their parents/guardians.

Week of Oct 19th

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of October 19th:

Parents, if you did not attend the recent Parent/Teacher Conferences, your student will be bringing home on Tuesday, October 20th their Fall MAP scores along with their progress reports for yearlong classes.

Attention parents of 7th graders. On October 23rd, the 7th grade will be going on a field trip to the campus of the University of Colorado at Denver. Permission slips and information about the field trip will be going home on Thursday Oct 8th and need to be returned by October 16th. We need as many parent volunteers as possible to come on the field trip with us. If you are available to come please fill out the volunteer section of the permission form and return it to school as soon as possible. Contact Nancy Davis the 7th grade counselor with questions about volunteering and/or to let her know you want to volunteer at 720-972-5054 or nancy.davis@adams12.org. Students will need to have a lunch. They can either bring one, purchase one from our school or purchase one on campus as we will be eating at the student union. Also, if a student receives a referral between Oct 1st and the day of the field trip they will be ineligible to attend and will be required to stay and work at school that day.

Our next Community Night will be Tuesday, October 20th. Our Reading, Writing, and ELD/ESL departments will be presenting. Community Night is from 5:30-6:30 pm and takes place in the Shadow Ridge Library. Babysitting will be available.

Si usted no asistió a las conferencias recientes, su estudiante va a traer a casa el martes 20 de octubre sus puntuaciones de otoño para MAPS junto con sus informes de progreso para las clases de un año de duración.

Atención padres de alumnos del septimo grado: el 23 de octubre, los de septimo grado va asistir un viaje de campo a la Universidad de Colorado en Denver. Los permisos y la información sobre el viaje los mandaron a la casa el jueves 8 de octubre y tienen que ser devueltos antes del 16 de octubre. Necesitamos bastantes padres voluntarios para supervisar. Si usted está disponible, por favor complete la sección de voluntarios de la forma de permiso y devolverlo a la escuela lo más pronto posible. Make sure you mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 7th (2:30-4p.m.) and Thursday, October 8th (5-8 p.m.) and Friday, October 9th (1- 4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.) for SRMS Parent/Teacher Conferences for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Please note we will be scheduling some conferences during the Friday afternoon session (1-4 p.m.). These teachers may be delayed in meeting promptly; however, other teachers will be available to meet. In addition, we will hold additional conferences for 6th grade on Wednesday, October 14th from 2:30-4 p.m. There will be no school on Friday, October 9th due to in-service training for staff. Most conferences will be drop-in with the exception of required conferences by school staff. Teachers will contact parents for these conferences.
A table with lost and found items will be located by the gym near the water vending
machine. Please stop by to view any items your students may have lost.

The Scholastic Book Fair starts Monday, October 5th and runs through Friday, October 9th. The book fair takes place in the library and will be open during school hours and during conference times.

Anyone interested in playing intramural volleyball should attend a 15 minute informational meeting Monday, Oct 5th after school. The meeting will start at 4:00 and be held in the gym. If you cannot attend you must see Mr. Mooney for the required paperwork. Volleyball will start Monday Oct. 12th.

The counseling department is looking for volunteers to help out with Shadow Ridge's attendance intervention program. This is the second year of the program and we are already seeing good results. We need adult volunteers who would be available to start right away on Fridays (or the last day of the school week) to come from around 11am to2pm to help with our program. This is not a physically demanding position, you will be sitting for the majority of the time. If you can't commit to every week, please still respond as we may be able to find someone else who can help out on the other weeks. Thank you for supporting our students!

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of August 31st

Thank you for your patience during the widening of Holly Street. The student drop off lane on the west side of Holly Street is still open. This drop off lane is referred to as the Hug and Go lane. Parents can pull up in this lane and drop off students on a sidewalk which connects to the Shadow Ridge sidewalk. You may either use the Hug and Go lane or continue to use the north lot to drop off or pick up your student, the south lot is designated for school buses only.

Be a part of the team that creates a book of RAMS memories! Take pictures, interview students and staff and make a book of the history of 2015-2016, here at Shadow Ridge. ALL GRADES LEVELS are WELCOME! We meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:50- 5pm. Be sure to arrange transportation home if you ride the bus!

Any 8th grade student wanting to travel to Washington DC over spring break this year should attend an introductory meeting on Tuesday September 1st at 5:30 pm in the Shadow Ridge library. Students who are already signed up for the trip can arrive at 6:00pm. Please contact Mr. Smith if you have any questions.

No school Monday, September 7th Labor Day Holiday.

Construction on Holly Street

Parents,

Thank you for your patience during the widening of Holly Street.  The student drop off lane on the west side of Holly Street is still open.  This drop off lane is referred to as the Hug and Go lane.  Parents can pull up in this lane and drop off students on a sidewalk which connects to the Shadow Ridge sidewalk.  You may either use the Hug and Go lane or continue to use the north lot to drop off or pick up your student. The south lot is designated for school buses only.

Again, thank your patience through this major construction.

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of August 24th

Attention parents: Please take a few minutes to go to the Shadow Ridge Middle School website and find the "2015 Needs Survey for Parents" link on the right hand side of the screen. We need every parent to take this survey to help the school to better evaluate the needs of our students in order to provide the best support possible for our students. The survey should take about 10 minutes. Please only fill out the survey once per child. The survey will be available until August 28th. Thank you for helping to support SRMS!

Just a reminder that every student will be given a needs assessment survey in the next week or so. Information was sent home on the first day of school about this survey. It is very similar to the parent survey and will help us to determine the needs of our students in order to better serve our school as a whole. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey you must fill out the form that was sent home on the first day of school and return it to SRMS by Friday the 21st. Thank you!

Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 25th 6:00pm – 7:30pm for only 7th and 8th graders and their families.

Any student wishing to participate in intramural soccer this year should attend an informational meeting on Thursday August 27 from 3:55-4:05 pm in Mr Smith's room A118. There is no cost to join and boys and girls of all grade levels and skill levels are welcome to participate.

Be a part of the team that creates a book of RAMS memories! Take pictures, interview students and staff and make a book of the history of 2015-2016, here at Shadow Ridge. ALL GRADES LEVELS are WELCOME! The first yearbook meeting will be Thursday, August 27th in the C100 flex lab.
The meeting will start at 3:50 and end at 4:30. Our normal meeting days will be Monday and Thursday, 3:50- 5:00. Be sure to arrange transportation home if you ride the bus!

Any 8th grade student wanting to travel to Washington DC over spring break this year should attend an introductory meeting on Tuesday September 1st at 5:30 pm in the Shadow Ridge library. Students who are already signed up for the trip can arrive at 6:00pm. Please contact Mr Smith if you have any questions.

No school Monday, September 7th Labor Day Holiday.

Ram Time will start Tuesday, September 8th. Ram Time takes place in the school library and is a quiet place where students can work on school work. Computers are available. Hours are:

Tuesday, September 15th, is our first Shadow Ridge Community Night for this year. You are invited to join us in the library as we talk about our School Improvement Plan, Infinite Campus, technology and library resources available at Shadow Ridge. Community Night takes place in the library and is from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Free babysitting will be available.

Give Sports...Put a Kid in the Game
Starting May 12th and going until the end of the year we will be collecting new and gently used sports equipment for children living in poverty right here in Colorado. Your donations give children the chance to get involved in sports! Anything that you can give can be brought to school and will be collected in a bin in the large gym. Items that can be donated include sliding shorts, jackets, hoodies, hats, cleats, chest protectors, football pads, baseball pants, and all sports equipment with the exception of helmets. Thank you for your help and for putting a kid in the game!

Mountain Range High School will be hosting boy’s basketball camp for any incoming 9th graders coming to Mountain Range. The camp is May 28th and 29th from 8-9:30 in the morning. For registration information you may contact Coach Mason or look on the Mountain Range boy’s basketball website.

7th and 8th grade Jazz bands are having a concert on Monday May 11th at 6:45pm. If the weather is good, it will be held outside, otherwise in the gym.

7th and 8th grade choir concert is Thursday, May14th. 8th grade is at 6:30, and 7th grade is at 7:30.

Estudiantes, marquen sus calendarios!! El ultimo baile será el viernes primero de mayo inmediatamente despues de la escuela de las 4 hasta las 6pm. Tendremos la tienda de la escuela abierta, palomitas en venta, rifas cada 30 minutos, y éxitos de hoy tocando en el gimnasio. El costo será $ 5.

El concierto de la banda jazz y del séptimo y octavo grado que iba ser para el martes 12 de mayo ha sido reprogramado. La nueva fecha es el lunes 11 de mayo a las 6:45pm. Una nota con más detalles se entregarán a los estudiantes de banda esta semana.

Week of April 20th

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of April 20th :

Spring Play “This is Just to Say” by Julia C. Bond is April 23rd, 24th and 25th at 7 pm.

There will be a meeting for all 7th grade students interested in going on the 2016 8th grade Shadow Ridge Washington D.C. trip on Tuesday April 28th at 6pm in the Shadow Ridge Library. The introductory meeting will last about 45 minutes. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Smith.

STUDENTS, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! THE FINAL SRMS SPRING DANCE WILL BE FRIDAY MAY 1st DIRECTLY AFTER SCHOOL FROM 4 TO 6 PM. WE WILL HAVE THE SCHOOL STORE OPENED, POPCORN FOR SALE, RAFFLES EVERY 30 MIINUTES FOR STUDENTS TO WIN PRIZES, TODAY’S HIT PLAYING IN THE GYM, ETC... THE COST WILL BE $5.


Message from kitchen staff:
Students who have balances or who owe charges in their lunch account at the end of the year will have that balance or charge rolled over into next year. If your student is changing schools his/her balance or charge will follow him to his new school. However, if you would like to have the balance refunded to you, please contact your kitchen manager. Refunds begin on May 12. The last day for refunds is May 26 at noon.

Be aware that your school office cannot do refunds for the Lunch Program. Please see your kitchen manager.

In order to get our financial house in order, there can be no negative balance charges as of May 5 at the MIDDLE schools and May 19 at the ELEMENTARY schools.

We have sincerely enjoyed having your student eat with us. We look forward to serving your student nutritious meals again next year. Thank you for your support of our program!

Parking Lot Procedures:
We need everyone’s cooperation with parking lot traffic. We have two parking lots. The north lot (closer to Horizon HS) is for parents to drop off and pick up their students and to park in during the day. The south lot (closer to 120th) is for the District 12 Buses to drop off and pick up students and for teachers to park in during the day. It is imperative that we have the parents drop off/pick up your students in the north lot, especially before school (from 7:45 – 8:23 a.m.) and after school (from 3:23 – 3:45 p.m.).

Habra una junta para todos los estudiantes del septimo grado interesados en ir a Washington DC en 2016 el martes 28 de abril a las 6 pm en la biblioteca de la escuela. Habra una presentación de unos 45 minutos. Si usted tiene alguna pregunta por favor póngase en contacto con el Sr. Smith.

Un mensaje del personal de la cocina:

Los estudiantes que tienen saldos o que deben dinero en su cuenta de almuerzo al final del año escolar tendrán ese saldo o cargo en su cuenta para el próximo año escolar. Si su hijo está cambiando escuelas su saldo o cargo lo seguirán a su escuela nueva. Sin embargo, si usted quisiera que su saldo reembolsado, por favor póngase en contacto con la oficina de la cocina. Los reembolsos comienzan el 12 de mayo. El último día de los reembolsos es el 26 de mayo a mediodía.

Tenga en cuenta que la oficina de la escuela no puede hacer los reembolsos.

En poner nuestra casa financiera en orden, no puede haber cargos negativos empezando el 5 de mayo en las escuelas intermedias y el 19 de mayo en las escuelas primarias.

Los Procedimientos del Parqueadero:

Necesitamos la cooperación de todos con el tráfico de estacionamiento. Tenemos dos estacionamientos. El lote norte cerca de la esquina 128 y Holly es dedicado para los padres para dejar y recoger a su estudiante y para estacionar durante el día. El lote sur cerca de 120 es para los autobuses del distrito y para los maestros. Es imperativo que los padres usen el estacionamiento norte, sobre todo antes y después de la escuela.
