Week of Feb 16th

Hello Shadow Ridge Parents and Guardians!
Here are the announcements for the week of February 16th:

This is a message from Kristina Ciccone (TOSA/Academic Interventionist)

We would like to start this year’s PARCC off with a bang. Every year we talk about how
important it is for students to eat well, get lots of rest, and stay focused during the PARCC testing time. Our staff would like to offer students a snack in-between each test so that they are prepared as much as possible. In order for us to be able to offer snacks to 1050 students for 6 days, we would like to ask for your donation of one box of snacks with at least twelve (12) individually wrapped items per family. Our staff will be handing out the snacks in-between our tests. If your child has a food allergy, it would be best if you donated the snacks for your child to make sure his or her dietary needs are met. Please DO NOT donate snacks with peanuts in them as we have students with severe peanut allergies. If you could bring all donations to Shadow Ridge by March 2nd, I can get them packaged for each class by PARCC test dates. Bring all donations to the front office.

When picking out snacks, please make sure that the snacks will not cause a mess. Chocolate melts in the hand-- contrary to commercials. A smudge of chocolate on a test can cause problems. We would prefer a snack that can be eaten quickly and is somewhat healthy. A Jolly Rancher takes a long time to eat and can get on the test book, so please think about that when getting snacks. A fruit roll up is perfect. Students can eat it quickly, and it doesn’t make a mess. Thank you for everything you do for our students.


A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE MATH COUNTS TEAM AND TEACHERS (MS. BURCH AND MS. MARTINEAU)!!!!! THEY ROCKED IT! SRMS competed in the Math Counts competition this last weekend. In the team competition SRMS took 3rd PLACE! Then...for the individual competition....SRMS took 1ST PLACE and 6TH PLACE OVERALL! WOOHOO SRMS!!!! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!! NEXT COMPETITION IS THE NORTH METRO CHAPTER: FEBRUARY 28TH at 12:30pm @ RTMS. THIS WILL BE MULTIPLE DISTRICTS IN COLORADO.

Este es un mensaje importante por Kristina Ciccone:

Nos gustaría empezar el examen PARCC lo mejor possible. Todos los años se menciona lo importante que es para los estudiantes que comen bien, descansan suficiente para mantener la concentración durante el examen PARCC. Nos gustaría ofrecer a los estudiantes un aperitivo en el medio de cada examen para que se preparan tanto como sea posible. Queremos ofrecer aperitivos a 1050 estudiantes durante los 6 días. Estamos pidiendo por su donación de una caja de aperitivos con al menos doce (12) aperitivos envueltos individualmente por cada familia. Los maestros los darán a cada estudiante un aperitivo entremedio de los examenes. Si su hijo tiene una alergia a los alimentos, sería mejor si usted dona los aperitivos para su hijo para asegurarse de que se cumplan sus necesidades dietéticas. Por favor NO donar aperitivos con cacahuates porque tenemos estudiantes con alergias graves. Si se puede entregar las donaciones a la oficina principal para el 2 de marzo, me puedo encargar de empaquarlos para tenerlos listos para los examenes.

En escogiendo aperitivos, por favor asegúrese de que los aperitivos no causarán a ensuciar los dedos de los estudiantes o el examen. Contrario a los comerciales, el chocolate se derrite en la mano. Una mancha de chocolate en el examen puede causar problemas. Preferiríamos un aperitivo que se puede comer rápidamente y es un poco saludable. Un Jolly Rancher tarda mucho tiempo para comer y pueden ensuciar el libro del examen, así que por favor pensar en eso cuando conseguin aperitivos. Un fruit roll up es perfecto. Los estudiantes pueden comerlo rápidamente. Gracias por todo que hacen para nuestros estudiantes!

Un saludo especial al equipo de matemáticas Math Counts y para las maestras, Sra. Burch y Srita. Martineau!!!!! Eran increíbles! El equipo Math Counts competieron la semana pasada. En la competición SRMS tomó tercero lugar en los equipos! Y para la competición individual, SRMS tomó el primer y sexto lugar! ¡WHOA SRMS !!!! Ustedes son increíbles !!!! El siguiente concurso es de los districtos norte de la cuidad el 28 de febrero a las 12:30pm @ RTMS.
